Your Special Stay
See the Poppies at Lincoln Castle this summer! Special Offer – 2 complimentary tickets with every booking for the Castle Wall Walk from now to 4th September!
What makes your stay Special
The accommodation is really special, but so are all the little extras! Please read all about it in your Welcome Book – an album of information I have put together full of all kinds of information about your stay here – from guiding you around your accommodation to recommending local places to eat and leading you around the County in search of the interesting and the unusual.
What’s included in the Price
Everything is provided for your stay and included in the price – linen, towels, toiletries, useful items like paper towel, toilet paper, dishwashing liquid and plenty of logs for the wood-burning stove. You’ll be delighted with your hamper of goodies, your luxury toiletries and your bottle of locally-made wine. Only the first night meal is extra, or if you order anything additional (see below).
Your Hamper and other things
You’ll find a hamper full of locally-sourced goodies including crisps, jam, muesli (from a local windmill), chocolates, Lincolnshire plum bread and apple juice – all made in Lincolnshire. There are also Lincolnshire sausages and local organic eggs in the fridge for you, along with organic milk and butter. You’ll also find a trug of vegetables collected from our garden (or from local shops when we have run low), freshly baked bread (usually made from flour from a local windmill) and a bottle of Lincolnshire wine – all to help make your stay a special as possible. There’s coffee, tea and sugar too. The luxury toiletries in the bathroom are made from natural ingredients by a local lady, and other toiletries like the shampoo and bubble bath are organic and made by Faith-in-Nature. Cleaning products vary but are always purchased from environmentally-aware companies.
First Night Meals
Pre-order your first night meal and we will serve it up for you in your accommodation on your arrival (or later in the week if you wish). On offer are home-made roast vegetables served with local Lincolnshire sausages and home-made apple oat crumble (using apples from our own trees, when available) and cream. Price – £15.00per person (pre-ordering essential). If you are vegetarian, we are more than happy to substitute Lincolnshire sausages with vegetarian sausages.
Cookery and Craft Courses
We offer a range of cookery courses and a few craft courses too which you we welcome you to join during your stay here. New for 2016 is the offer of ‘cookery or craft courses just for two’ which I can arrange especially for you during your stay! The choices are learning to bake bread (Beginner’s Bread making, Healthy Options, Boozy Breads), Hand made Chocolates or Jam & Preserves. Other seasonal courses include ‘from plot to plate’ days which are all about collecting produce from the garden and creating seasonal specialities. Or you can request a knitting or crochet course, or spend a day making natural bath & beauty products. The cost for two of you on these special one-day courses is just £180 for the entire day which includes a home-made lunch with wine! Contact us for more detail. You need to book your course at the same time as booking the accommodation. Have a look at my recipe (and photos) of Apple Herb Jelly in the current issue of the Good Taste magazine – you can make this too on our Jam & Preserves courses.
We grow as many of the vegetables as possible. When we can’t grow all the vegetables we need, we purchase them from local shops, farm shops and farmers’ markets. Information about these, and the dates when markets are held, are all provided in your Welcome Book. Lincolnshire is well known for its great supply of fresh produce and is definitely a place to come if you love food! See what the Guardian has to say about Lincolnshire as a place for foodies!
Love Food Select Lincolnshire
We are members of the Select Lincolnshire (formerly Tastes of Lincolnshire). Select Lincolnshire is all about the promotion of local food and drink in Lincolnshire and the logo at restaurants and tearooms means that local produce has been used. A list of all the places you can go to sample good Lincolnshire fayre is given in the super magazine ‘Good Tastes’, copies of which are provided free in your accommodation – please help yourself. We were the proud Winners in 2010 (Self catering category) and ‘Highly Commended’ in 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2014. We were also runners-up for our Courses (Teaching Establishment category) in 2013 and 2014 and winners in 2015, reflecting our dedication to all things local. We use local produce (including our own) in the accommodation and on courses, for hampers and for your first night meals. For recommendations of where to eat please see our Welcome Book. Have a look here at the current issue of their Good Taste magazine. There’s a bit about this year’s Awards and also some great recipes towards the back (including my very own photo and Apple Herb Jelly recipe!).

What people say about us
This is the most wonderful place we have ever stayed in. You have gone to so much effort to make the Hayloft a warm cosy retreat. Everything has been through of.... Like straight out of a magazine...
Loved it here! I think this may be our favourite part of the UK - seems to offer everything! And the Hayloft is wonderful - also seems to offer everything! Thanks, Sherry, for making this a wonderful ending to our trip - I don't think anyone can "top" your hospitality. This visit to Lincolnshire has truly been an unexpected joy.
If all self-catering holidays were like this, we'd never do anything else! The luxury and thoughtfulness helped us make the most of a short break. We've also converted to the delights of Lincolnshire
An unexpected find and what an absolute pleasure to stay here! Sherry has thought of everything from welcome hampers, to soaps to detailed information about places to visit!
We loved the Bothy and all the delicious treats that were left by Sherry. Really good to see natural products being used throughout and showcasing local products.
