What makes your stay Special
A stay at the Manor House Stables is special in many ways - you are welcomed with a luxury hamper full of local or special goodies including local honey, locally-made jam using our own quince, apples and carrots, muesli from a local windmill, Linc
olnshire plum bread from a local producer and organic fruit juice made in Lincolnshire plus biscuits, tea and chocolates. Your fridge is full of Lincolnshire produce such as locally-made cheese, Lincolnshire sausages and local organic/free range eggs. You will also find a basket of vegetables collected from our garden (or from local shops when we have run low), freshly baked bread using flour from a local windmill and a bottle Lincolnshire wine - all to help make your stay a special as possible.
We grow as many of the vegetables as possible (although this year has been a bit of a struggle!). Your own private gardens have a selection of herbs for you to pick and use yourself. When we can't grow all the vegetables we need, we purchase it fro
m local shops, farm shops and farmers' markets. Information about these, and the dates when markets are held, are provided in your accommodation. Lincolnshire is well known for its great supply of fresh produce and is definitely a place to come if you love food! See what the Guardian has to say about Lincolnshire as a place for foodies! For more information about local products, where to buy and where to eat, please see the Tastes of Lincolnshire Website
We are members of the Tastes of Lincolnshire and were the proud Winners 2010 (Self
catering category) and 'Highly Commended' in 2009, reflecting our dedication to all things local. See our News & Events page f
or more info and photos. We use local produce (including our own) in the accommodation and on courses, for hampers and for your first night meals. Tastes of Lincolnshire is all about the promotion of local food and drink in Lincolnshire and the logo at restaurants and tearooms means that local produce has been used. A list of all the places you can go to sample good Lincolnshire fayre is given in the super magazine produced by Tastes of Lincolnshire, copies of which are provided in the accommodation for you to take home with you. We recommend the Village Limits in Woodhall Spa, Doddington Hall Farm Shop and Cafe, the Old Bakery in Lincoln and Abbey Parks Farm Shop at East Heckington.- all serve up great food using local produce and all are Tastes of Lincolnshire members.
